Meet Malcolm Farrell

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Farrell lived there for a few years and then was raised in Piscataway, New Jersey. He has Trinidadian roots, his mother was born in Trinidad and his father spent some of his childhood there. Being a top athlete growing up, Farrell played soccer and baseball, but always felt a passion for acting. Farrell went on to study Broadcast Journalism at the University of Houston. His professors were so impressed with his journalism skills that they asked Farrell on multiple occasions to host and moderate many of the college's student forums, ranging from subjects on sports and college athletics to race and gender in the industry. In the years following, Farrell started auditioning, while working many part-time jobs. He was determined to become skilled at the craft, so he studied and worked with many acting coaches to help him. With his positive attitude and perseverance, it didn't take long before his acting career took off.

About the Movie

General synopsis of the Movie - TIJUANA JACKSON: (Romany Malco) is embarking on a life-altering journey with hopes of becoming a world-renowned motivational speaker and Life Coach with student filmmakers in tow documenting his every move. With nothing but broke people option, TJ moves back in with his holy roller mother, Momma Jackson (Lynn Odum) and discovers his sister, Sharea (Tami Roman) and nephew, Lil' Eric, played by Alkoya Brunson, have also moved back home and taken over his bedroom.

How long have you been an actor?

I’ve been acting for 10 years now.

Tell me about the defining moment(s) that led you to wanting to be in the film industry, what sparked that fire inside you?

The first defining moment for me was when I was younger just watching TV. I was always inspired by watching movies and being amazed by what is on tv isn’t real but it’s so natural you think it is. Ever since then I’ve been stuck with the actors bug and constantly joking and playing. Acting chose me effortlessly. Another defining moment for me was definitely when I booked my first job in 2012. It wasn’t even a real role. It was a background role lol but the experience of being on set really sparked my interest even more. Watching how everything can be on set as well as the staff and the different jobs. Lastly, I would say experience. The experience of it all. The classes, practicing, reading, etc. Every time I do it, it ignites the fire in me even more because im getting better each and every production.

1. Where are you from and where do you currently live? – I am from Piscataway, New Jersey and I currently live in Houston, Texas

2. If you had to pick which one would it be Condo, Townhome, House? – Damn, this is a hard one lol. I love condos but I love space which a house provides. So I think a house because I love ownership too.

3. Who is your celebrity crush? – Sheesh, I got a lot lol. Well a few. Gabrielle Union, Justine Skye, Tessa Thompson to name a few.

4. Do you sleep with the TV on or off? OFF. I love quietness lol

5. What does your typical morning routine look like? – Wake up, lay in bed for 10 more minutes lol stretch. Brush my teeth, eat. Read, and write.

6. How important is healthy eating/exercise to you? I eat horribly lmao and I don’t exercise. Im super thankful to have a fast metabolism so I don’t gain any weight. But those two things are definitely important nonetheless.

7. If you had to donate your entire wardrobe, what are the three pieces you're keeping? My jean jacket, a pair of jeans. And my cool grey Jordan 11’s
