Bahamas Summer Vacation

This trip could not have come at a better time, and I must say it has been my most favorite trip yet. Although this was my first time in The Bahamas it most certainly will not be the last. Let me tell you why in the following.

We arrived on August 6, 2021 with an early flight - only 2 hours 26 mins away from paradise who knew. For some reason Briah and I both thought the flight time would be nearly 4 hours so we were bracing ourselves. The flight was smooth and painless we arrived in The Bahamas around 1pm in the afternoon. We caught local transportation to our hotel The Warwick. Let’s talk about the hotel for just a bit. I personally believe their website and branding is a bit misleading. All of the ladies on this trip could attest that this wasn’t up to our accommodation standards however we made the most of it. Would I ever come back to stay here? No, but I definitely want to check out Baha Mar next. The very first night we took it easy and headed in early.

Saturday

By Saturday, I was itching to explore and my oh my did I. We took a free shuttle to Cabbage Beach. The view was stunning - the most clear turquoise water I’ve ever laid eyes on. It was truly a site to see. Briah and I enjoyed the waves with a drink in hand alongside our new friends Kira and Jay. After swimming practically all day we packed up and headed to a local favorite called Fish Fry. Fish Fry is home to a string of food vendors, beach shacks and Native eateries serving up an authentic Bahamian food experience. We ate at Oh Andros which is a spot known for big portions. We ordered every type of Conch there was and for 4 adults our bill came up to $43 bucks. You can’t beat that.

After Fish Fry - Briah and I headed back to the hotel and met up with the rest of the ladies Alysee, Paige, Erika, Kirstin, Christine, and Katrice! When the sun went down we dressed up and went to a restaurant called Latitude to kick things off - it was really cute in there.

Sunday

On Sunday the girls headed off to a Rum Tour and I was drawn back to Cabbage beach. It was not my intention at all but somehow someway I ended up going parasailing. What an experience, to have a birds eye view on Gods earth with nothing surrounding us was truly a memory I will hold on too for life. We also went jet skiing (thanks Charlie!) and more lazy lounging on the beach. After the beach, I came back got dressed and met the rest of the girls downstairs for dinner at the hotel (Edgewater Grill).

Monday

Monday oh Monday… August 9, 2021. We boarded a private plane leaving from Odyssey Aviation for a 30 minute flight south to Exuma Cays, Bahamas. Life - changing. We swam with pigs, sharks, visited Iguana Beach, viewed the sand bars, snorkeled in the grotto and saw the sunken plane wreck. What a day. This day trip came up to $510 dollars with tax and it was well worth it. We booked the trip through the lovely ladies of 3N’s Vacation Services. We stopped to have lunch at The Yacht Club Exuma Cays and it was delish. I had a Mahi Mahi sandwich with French Fries along with a Mango frozen drink with rum of course. (also happy birthday Kirstin!)

Tuesday

Tuesday was Paige’s 30th birthday, we started her day with Breakfast at the hotel and then she headed off to a massage at a spa near by. Kirstin, Briah and I headed over to … Cabbage Beach again for some last minute sun soaking as this would be our last full day. After we said our good byes we met all the girls back at the pool and had some mixed drinks and girl talk. At around 5pm we all headed towards our rooms to unwind and get ready for dinner later at the infamous Nobu. I thoroughly enjoyed my first time experience at Nobu and cannot wait to visit other locations. My order consisted of Cucumber & Avocado Roll, King Crab tacos, and a Spicy Garlic Scallop with Vegetables dish. Everything was simply divine.

Wednesday

As we headed back into reality aka Newark Airport - I had a lot of time to think. This trip made me feel my age (27 now!) and it partly made me emotional. I truly have grown into a woman. A woman whose able to take complete care of herself and show herself the world - no handouts. I’m truly blessed and it’s only up from here. See you soon Bahamas.
